Google Talk App Retirement - does this affect eMClient?

Will this announcement affect the chat function in eMClient or just the Google Talk Client for those without Hangouts enabled?

Hi, eM Client’s chat feature should remain working after this announcement, the feature is using a standard XMPP protocol, discontinuation of an existing google application should cause no issues.
