Gmail Server Side LABEL question: Don't Delete From Label/Folder

Creating rules on the GMAIL server works great with EMClient whether you do it on the GMAIL webpage or the EMClient itself.

I have seen my mail properly copied to the LABEL/FOLDER that I specified in the rule.

Here is the problem…

When I delete a specific mail from the main EMClient list, it also deleted the mail in the corresponding folder.

I want to archive all those emails for future reference.

Is there any setting I can make in server rules to NOT delete the mail from the LABEL/FOLDER when deleted from the main message list? Perhaps a setting to archive that email?

If I made the rule locally, it doesn’t delete anything from the folder. Only if I create the rule on the server.

Thanks

The message is not actually copied to the folder; it is in All Mail and will have the Inbox label, and then it will also have the label of the other folder.

If you don’t want it in Inbox, you can remove the Inbox label from the message.

Gary,

It sounds like server-side rules are probably not for me.

I need a rule that will send mail to the INBOX, then copy it to a folder where it will remain archived.

That can be done on a local level but it doesn’t seem like it can be done on a server level.

Should I just go back and make the rules on the local end?

When I delete a specific mail from the main EMClient list, it also deleted the mail in the corresponding folder. I want to archive all those emails for future reference.

I would then create a folder in eM Client Local folders, and then “create a local rule” that copies whatever incoming Gmail inbox mail you want to keep to the specific local folder which then wont be deleted.

Also make sure you then backup eM Client regularly via the “Menu / Backup” option being messages are stored in Local folders.
