I am using eM Client 9.2.2307 on Windows 11 with AVG antivirus.
eM Client works fine, but with a red warning triangle that says “An attempt to connect to [email protected] failed. This could be caused by temporary server unavailability or incorrect settings. Please check the settings or click on the warning symbol to try connecting again.”
I checked the settings and I don’t see any error. When I click the warning symbol, it tries to connect and then shows the symbol again. Although the symbol lets me believe that I cannot connect, I receive and send the emails without any issue.
Can you explain ? Thank you.
Jean-Luc
Presuming you have the correct Gmail settings sometimes the email scanning part of the AVG program can interfere.
To test go to AVG Menu > Settings > Basic protection > Email Shield and “turn the Email Shield off completely” and see if it works.
Certain versions of AVG might be different where th Mail Shield is located, so if it’s not there contact AVG via community website or phone.
AVG and Avast mail shield have been known to cause issues with eM Client for other users.
If it still won’t work with mail shield disabled, then go to “Menu / Accounts” and update what your Gmail Server address, Server Port and Security Policy is so we can check if there is any obvious errors.
