gmail sent me a message ‘‘Someone just used your password to try to sign in to your account from a non-Google app. Google blocked them’’. what should i do now?

This is not an eMC issue.
Log into your account using webmail, follow the Google / Gmail link that will indicate the location etc of the claimed attempt.
If you used a different computer / phone or a VPN to access your mail it will be a case of Google / Gmail being over zealous - I travel a lot and get these alerts from Google / Gmail all the time.

apologies… i don’t understand the meaning/implication of ‘‘webmail’’ in ‘‘Log into your account using webmail’’ [i.e.] is webmail different from gmail?.

Go to:
https://gmail.google.com/gmail
then log into your account and follow to link on the site.
