Extra iCloud email address's showing in the from dropdown new message window iOS iPhone & iPad

This has been an issue for many versions of the iOS mobile app even the latest V10.4.5360 on iPhone / iPad OS26.4.1 where if you add multiple accounts “including iCloud accounts” either via QR Export from the desktop or manually they all add correctly in Settings and all show correctly under “Inboxes” at the top left of the app.

However when you create, reply or forward an email and “select the from address” at the top of the message, it allways has a “duplicate of the Live account and Gmail account” ?

I have also seen this happen with my brothers iPhone with his own separate same IMAP accounts setup on iPhone 13 Pro Max.

So seems like a bug as uninstalled and reinstalling and setting up new never seems to fix it. Its annoying that’s they are showing.

Example below of this issue with my various IMAP accounts where you will see the accounts are correct and the inboxes are correct but the compose window “has 2 duplicate Live & Gmail accounts with iCloud icons” which shouldn’t be there and also shouldn’t have iCloud icons either.

We’ll test this, thank you.

Do you have any aliases set for the iCloud account?

Do you have any aliases set for the iCloud account?

No aliases setup on any of the accounts on the iOS mob apps.

@Kim_Fisher

I dblchecked in the actual Apple Account end online and thats what was causing it, as i remember i did setup an alias sometime ago online and another email address online as a contact backup email address, but “could disable those on the Desktop” so the other non iCloud address’s never showed on the desktop via disabling the "Use the following aliases from linked accounts box.

However when i add my same iCloud account email address in the eM Client iOS app on the iPhone and iPad, those same 3 email address’s don’t show in the iCloud account “Alias section” at all or a checkbox to even disable those from appearing when i compose a message ?

So seems like the Desktop picks those up automatically from the iCloud end in the wizard “when adding the account” but not the iOS app. Or if it doesn’t add those same 3 email address’s from linked account and the checkbox is in the iOS app, i don’t know where that is on the iOS app to disable that so its the same as the desktop and only shows the iCloud address.

Aha! Thanks for the details. Glad we caught the reason for the original issue, and we’ll look into the different mobile and desktop behavior next.

After discussing it with our team, it is actually expected behavior at the moment. I understand how you might expect the same behavior as on desktop and how this doesn’t offer the same level of flexibility.. For what it’s worth, it’s something we want to improve in the future, I just can’t promise it would be in the nearest future.
