Export saved emails - not one file per email

I file old emails to a local emClient database on my computer - I have hundreds of folders and sub-folders and tons of emails saved there. How could I export that to bring in to another email client? I see there is an export function, but its one file per email which really won’t work with so many emails.

Perhaps this will help (https://www.zebnet.de/products/backup-for-email-ever the program in question) but whether Program B can cope with the backup file of Program A, I can’t say now

(Have this for the eM client for about two years … Wonderful)

P.S.:
this site is in english language too … Zebnet is a company in UK:)

That link seems to not work.

uff,i’m see :frowning: this now? https://www.zebnet.us/products/backup-for-email

(or https://www.zebnet.us - than produkts - than backup for email)

The US link works for me. Sadly, the utility isn’t free - and there’s no mention of any import/export functions.

I think the starting point would be to trawl the web for information for the program you’re wanting to import *to* (eg. Thunderbird etc.) to see whether it can read eMclient data.

Hi Adam,

Actually there is a free version, 2-step registration process.
https://www.zebnet.us/freeware/backup-for-email/backup-for-em-client
but not relevant  as to the OP’s question.

"I think the starting point would be to trawl the web for information for the program you’re wanting to import *to* (eg. Thunderbird etc.) to see whether it can read
eMclient data. "

Exactly, because there was no mention in the OP’s post what the other email client is.

I’m considering ditching emClient but haven’t decided what else to use yet, I may go back to Outlook.  I thought maybe there was a standard cross-platform format to which they could be exported as (in a single file) that I could then load in to anything. Yes - I’ll focus first on what else to use then look at ways to migrate. Thank you.

There is a standard cross-platform for exporting to a single file:  mbox. Unfortunately eM Client does not offer this export option, though it does offer it as an import option. And even if it did, this format does not support directory structures, so you will need to do each folder separately.

But the easiest way to export your messages, and have them usable in another email client, is to use eM Client’s own export facility.

Simply export to .eml files.

This will export all the select folders and contents, and will also keep the directory structure. Yes, each message is a single file, but it does include all it’s embedded content and attachments. If you want a single file for each folder, you can take one more step and use an external application to convert eml to mbox.

Any self-respecting email client can import .eml files en masse.
