Error on every start up

Have recently switched to free em client and activated it and imported all my previous emails etc using a usb stick.
Now every time I open em client I get:

backup1: an error occurred
[Datafile] Data file ‘D:\backup1emdf’ failed to open.
Help, this is way over my head.

Sounds like you had previously created a eM Client external hard-disk data file to store emails in, which is now no longer there.

So when you get into eM Client, go to “Menu / Data Files” and click on your data file and click “Unmount” at the top. Then close the data files window and close & reopen eM Client.
