Emails since Microsoft / Windows / eM Client update

Hi
Thank you for listening, totally frustrated at the moment.
Can only receive one email. What have I done since reading solutions here-

  1. Rebooted the modem
  2. Turned off VPN
  3. Turned off VPN and All Norton at all points.
    I know there is at least 10 emails waiting to be downloaded.
    Please help, how do I get it back to normal?
