Hello,
compared to Thunderbird, emails load very slowly when using eM Client. What could be causing this? (The Thunderbird email settings were transferred during the eM Client installation.)
Many thanks in advance for any tips.

We need more information here. We need a protocol used (IMAP, EWS, POP), provider (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo etc) and we would need logs to analyze it.
Hello,
thank you for your prompt response.
I use IMAP and my provider is 1&1.
How can I create the corresponding logs in eM Client?
Thank you in advance for your feedback!
Best regards,
Sib
Can we get the website who hosts 1&1 ?
Also whats your IMAP Server address, Port and Security Policy ?
Also what version of eM Client are you using ?
Are you using Windows or Mac and what OS ver ?
Hello cyberzork,
I have summarized various information in the attached screenshot.
Thanks for looking into it.
Best regards,
Sib
Ok these are the IMAP and SMTP SSL Settings you can use in eM Client.
IMAP
Port 993 = Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
Port 143 = Use SSL/TLS if available
SMTP
Port 587 = Force usage of SSL/TLS
Port 465 = Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
Hello cyberzork,
thank you for your feedback.
The settings are the same as those automatically imported from Thunderbird (see screenshot).
Regardless of this, there are still emails without attachments (despite a fast Internet connection and no large file attachments/many graphics) that tend to take longer to download than in Thunderbird.
This is annoying.
Best regards,
Sib
The only way how to diagnose it is IMAP logs.
Okay, I clicked through (Settings - Advanced - Log) until I found the options for log recording.
The individual IMAP/SMTP fields for the respective email addresses are now activated/checked.
I will record the next few days and send you the results afterwards.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Sib
To send IMAP logs you first go to “Menu / Settings / Advanced” (Pc) or "eM Client / Preferences / Advanced (Mac).
Then Enable IMAP logs for your account and Save & Close Settings. Then “Restart eM Client”.
Then download and email which has the slow receiving mail problem as an example, and note the time it started and the time it finished downloading.
Then once the email is downloaded, go back to “Advanced in the Settings” and click Send logs which should create a new message with the IMAP logs attached. Also include a link to this forum thread in the message and a description of the issue and the time it started to download & time it finished downloading. Then send that email.
Lastly disable the IMAP logging and Save & Close Settings and then restart eM Client.
