I have had eM Client for several weeks now and I have been having the same problem since the beginning that new emails are not showing up in eM Client unless I close the application and reopen. When I click refresh, nothing happens, but when I close and reopen, the new emails will show up on my desktop. When I first log on in the morning, the app seems to work for an hour or so, but it always stops bringing in new emails unless I close and reopen. I have IMAP setup with Time Warner Cable roadrunner email if that makes a difference.
