I started using eM Client in November and have realized that my emails are auto deleting. I have auto archiving turned off. This is an att.net email account. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated.
Hi Ralph,
could you please specify when this happens and what emails are affected? Is this on an IMAP/POP/Exchange account? Do you access mail from other devices?
Regards,
Olivia
I am having this same issue. eM Client just arbitrarily deletes emails, both read and unread. I am using IMAP. And, I do not access email from any other devices, which seems to be the pat question response to every inquiry that I’m seeing on here.
Can you see the emails via webmail? eM Client cannot arbitrarily delete emails. By any chance are you using a Microsoft account (i,e., Outlook.com, Hotmail)?
No. I am using a gmail.com account. I am assuming you mean for me to sign in to Google.com and view them on there. I think that defeats the purpose of having eM Client if I have to do that. There is no way that I can see as to how to change any email preferences to stop deleting older emails in the inbox.
I have looked on gmail.com and they are not there either.
Just wanted to see if was a sync issue or they were actually gone. I wasn’t suggesting you replace eM Client with the web client. eM Client really cannot delete emails on its own. Check in the All Mail folder. If you archive or delete the inbox flag they will end up there, but not visible in the inbox.
I checked in the all mail folder, as I have filed certain emails in specific saved folders for long-term keeping. Many of the deleted emails are not just older.
I would assume that if this issues if prevalent across the board, due to the many inquiries from others, that something is occurring in the software to delete emails.
Don’t believe this is prevalent. I do see it occasionally, but not typically associated with gmail. Don’t really think eM Client is to blame as without some rule (you don’t have any rules do you, whether on eM Client or Gmail.com?) it can’t do anything like that.
Any pattern to the deletions?
I’m not sure what you mean by “rules.” Unless you mean commands written into one or the other system. If that’s what you mean, I can’t see any “rules” in either gmail or eM Client. It doesn’t mean there aren’t any just because I can’t see them. There certainly can be something written in the programs themselves that I am not privy to that deletes certain emails. There are no preference choices available in relation to deleting emails in either place available for the user. The mere fact that they are gone though no means of anything I did on my end from one day to the next indicates there is something amiss.
Were there any resolutions for any of the others inquiring about this same issue that I didn’t see? Otherwise, I’m simply stuck with emails coming up missing on their own and this forum is not helpful.
I did a search and went back about 10 pages. There were a few issues with deleted messages, but most related to Microsoft accounts and their discontinuance of Airsync. Those that had no resolution typically had a request for additional info from eM Client or the responder, but with no response from original poster. This leads me to believe the problem was solved by the original poster. By the way, I think I only saw one issue related to Gmail. I have been using the program for 4+ years and I have never had an issue like that (also Gmail).
Please be aware that this forum is primarily a user forum, although eM Client employees are generally active. If your not getting a response to your issue, it is probably because other users are not experiencing this problem. I see lots of problems that are resolved with the assistance of the user community, so I think it is unfair to those who contribute to say this forum is not helpful.
I have two final responses to you:
-
Go to the gmail settings on the web client and ensure that all of the folders you created have the “Show in IMAP” checked and
-
Use the web client for some period of time to see if it happens there. If it soes, it’s something within gmail.
Hope this helps.
I understand your defensiveness. But, if I don’t find a resolution to an issue on the forum, then there is no other way of saying that it didn’t help, then it’s not helpful…
That being said, I appreciate your taking the time to attempt resolution. At least in this last thread of communication, you actually gave me some steps to take. However, I do not know how to find the “show in IMAP” in order to check it. Under tools, then settings, there is nothing mentioning IMAP. However, under tools, account, there are several boxes that can be checked: IMAP SMTP XMPP Google Contacts, Calendar, and Settings. All those boxes are checked.
I finally stumbled upon your “rule.” However, I still am at a loss as to exactly what that means. I don’t expect you to explain everything to me, so I will Google it :).
I understand the forum HAS not been helpful to you, but that does not mean it IS not helpful. Subtle but important difference.
- Go into the web gmail client.
- Select settings
- Select the “Labels” tab.
- Make sure all the “Show in IMAP” is checked (particularly “All mail”).
