Thanks Jan! I am using gmail and IMAP. I have a series of folders.as subfolders of my Inbox for workflow purposes.
It appears that the solution was to exit and restart emclient. My folders are showing with no issue now.
well this solution is something that would not come to my mind -_- I often forgot that many users do not try this at first.
