EM7 - RC disappointed

So, as the final release of EM7 is nearby I thought I give it a try and see how well it runs.

OK, the import of an existing EM6 instance worked perfectly well and as far as I can say all accounts (IMAP, GMail, Exchange) and calendars (CALDAV) have been migrated and are online again.

Perfect job done, no doubt!

BUT, I’m missing features! No, not features that have been existing since any previous versions and probably now missing, no, I mean features that are urgently needed and nevertheless missing since years now.

I just mention: unread counters. Still EM7 is not capable of propagating its unread counters from subfolders to their parents or root folders (local and server folders). This is a must have! It can’t be so complicated to iterate through all tree folders an collect unread messages and store this value in one of their parent folders, right? That’s a simple task a junior programmer can solve within, let’s say, a day or so.

I just missed urgent mails that I move into subfolders, using rules, and because of this missing feature I did not encounter them for a few days.

So when will EM have this important features?

And of course, to not be forgotten: https://forum.emclient.com/emclient/topics/enhancements-for-rules

and https://forum.emclient.com/emclient/topics/rules-execution-for-all-incoming-emails-not-only-unread

and https://forum.emclient.com/emclient/topics/larger_main_icons_top_bar

and a fully and feature rich archiving system(besides GMail and similar).

Hello,
as you’re making a try, can you tell me how you find “View Source” message.

Just started a new thread concerning “unread counters” not realizing that this has been around longer already. I also thought: that is simple math, so should be fixable in a day or so.

What I find strange - when there are unread mails in sub-folders the “unread”-icon on the main program icon appears. THAT makes even less sense for me since having messages skip the inbox is because I don’t want to get notified about them (but find them when opening the program). Now when having a look at the icon, even though no sound was played, it looks like there is an item in the inbox. Since it is not now I can start manually opening and closing all the sub-folders to find out where the unread mail is. This behaviour in my eyes is upside-down from what it should be.

Yes of course, I just right clicked on the header of an e-mail and from the context menu I’ve chosen View Mail Source, see attached image.

Michael

Thanks Mike F.  I have same thing, BUT I have to right click on “Unsuscribe from receiving these message”.
I don’t  have it if I click on "From “eM Client”, nor right cliking on line in Subject column.

Sure? I just checked again. I can right click on any of the white space of the header and the context menu shows the View Mail Source item…

Maybe that’s the point: to click on the space not on the text?

Michael

Mike F, you are a genious! That’s the point!!
(I wrote to support and they will be sure I’m very stupid).

Yes, this wish seems to be floating around here since years but nothing happens as it does with other lon time wishes. The developers are just doing their thing ignoring their customers - that’s fact, sadly.

Annoyingly this now happens with their latest release again.

I am just about to switch from Mailbird where that factor is much much worse. I had been hoping that this would be better with eM-Client. At least with eM it does not seem to concern major issues. Or does it?

I too had a look at Mailbird, however as far as I know there is now Caldav/Carddav support which is a must have i my case.

I’ve found a second possibility to view the source, click on the small arrow on the upper right corner, pls. see image.

Oh yes. So I discover there many possibility to view source
