eM Client refuses to open

I’ve been using eM Client very happily for the last 3 months in Windows 10. Suddenly, this morning, it will not open. There’s no error message; it just refuses to open. Can anyone advise what the problem is and how to resolve it? Thank you.

I have been a user for 3 + years. I use windows 10. Every once in a while em Client will hang and not open. Usually, when it happens I discover the daily emClient backup is running. I know when my daily backup occurs, so I avoid using emClient during the 5 minutes the backup is active. Also the way the emclient backup works, if it can’t startup at the pre-set time -because the computer is off - then it will start shortly after you restart your computer. An easy way to check and see when your backup is being made and if it competed is to check in Windows the directory Documents>emclient>. You should see a list of backups and the times/dates the backup ran. if the backup fails it will also indicate in the file name you see that it did not complete.
You can always reboot and try emclient again. I would just give it 5 minutes after it reboots before trying to start emclient so that any lingering processes from the reboot complete. I know my anti-viral software runs upon reboot and it slows down the the computer until it completes its scan. Good luck.

Thank you for the reponse. I guess I should have tried rebooting first! When I did, eM gave me a message to say that it hadn’t shut down properly last time I used it and that some files may have been corrupted. It went through the whole checking process and then opened perfectly satisfactorily. Thanks very much for the advice, which solved the problem.

I’ll take note of what you said about the auto backup and keep it in mind for future reference. Again, thank you for taking the time to respond.
