eM Client has large delay connecting with gmail

When I click on the “Refresh” icon at the top of the screen, the circular activity icon next to it starts to rotate as well as the circular activity icons next to both of my email accounts. In a short time, the icon next to my yahoo account stops and its inbox is updated with new emails. The icon next to my gmail account, however, never stop rotating and the inbox does not update for many minutes. Even when the icon at the top of the screen stops rotating, the icon next to my gmail account inbox never stops rotating.
I have tried clearing my cache, rebooting my entire system including my modem, router, and computer without success. If I use my iphone to retrieve gmail, everything works instantly. Any emails that I read with my iPhone eventually show up as read in eM Client but only after several minutes of delay.
This issue may have started after the recent Windows or eM Client updates but I am not sure.
I am running Windows 11 home version 24H2 and eM Client version 10.4.4195.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you have only just added your Gmail account, could be its still synching from the server to eM Client depending on how large your server mailbox is.

So click on “All Mail” under your Gmail account and then click “Refresh”. Then click the dropdown on the right of Refresh and click “Show Operations” and see if its still synching.

Also go to “Menu / Accounts” and click your Gmail account and click the “IMAP” tab and see what the Sync Time Period is under Sync options as per the below example screenshot. As if its set to eg: All Time, it might then initially just take time longer time till all your email arrives “depending on the size of your online mailbox”. So you can adjust that and see if that makes any difference. Remember to Save Accounts if you do change the Sync Time Period.

Next check under your Gmail Account IMAP tab if you are using the latest V10.4.x that you have the following Server address, Server port and Security policy.

Apart from the correct settings, sometimes programs running resident can sometimes interfere with email arriving such as eg: optionally installed firewall / security programs, or optionally installed antivirus programs, or vpns. So if you have anything like that installed “other than what comes default with your OS”, try completely disabling those to test incase of interference.

cyberzork, Thanks for the detailed reply.
Strangely enough, today everything is working correctly and fast. I verified all of your suggestions and all settings are where they should be (verified after the problem was gone).
I am suspicious that the problem may be related to my Avira virus checker because it ran a scan last night and today not only is email working fast but other programs are executing noticeably quicker than before. I will observe things for a few days and if the problem returns my first thought will be to shop for a new antivirus program. It may be that you get what you pay for and I am using a free version of Avira. Just a thought, do you have a favorite antivirus program that is good and inexpensive? Thanks again.
