eM Client does not recognize it is default email app in windows 10

Bwaahaahaa.  Have you seen the length of my posts?

I could get

to work (the "pre" button in the format bar at the bottom).  I didn't see a Preview button to see what my post would look like after submission.  So, I had to submit and then see what it looked like (to see if it would be different than the jumbled mess created by the "pre" button).  Nope, still a jumbled mess.

I figured to convert the text into an image but the first couple methods that I used didn't work.  Good ol' Paint worked.  Was getting ready to upload to Imgur to put a link here, but remembered this forum lets user insert images into their posts.  I clicked Edit and, yep, I was in edit mode.  I then highlighted the

text to delete, positioned the insert point, and clicked the camera icon in the format bar.  Then I dragged the .png into the drag box that shows up at the bottom of the post.  The image showed up okay.  I reviewed the modified post and then clicked Submit.  Nothing happened.  I tried several times.  Could not get Submit to work.

Went to another page and came back to this thread.  The Edit button was gone.  Although I was in the middle of editing my post, Idacil replied and locked me out (instead of locking out Idacil while I was already in edit mode).  Argh!

I was fast enough to have the Edit link available and start editing my post.  The forum software yanked away my editing privilege WHILE editing my post.  Explains why I had problems before.  There is an Edit, I'm in edit mode, but someone replies before I click the Submit button, and I can no longer Submit.

I was quick.  However, I was quick to get back and go into edit mode.  I wasn't quick enough to complete the editing (highlight the text, delete, insert an image and check) to get ahead of the next respondent.  With that behavior, no one can ever be quick enough.  The go into Edit and someone could immediately thereafter reply.  I don't work in the millisecond range for editing.

Thanks for the heads up on why my current editing session got locked out (and forcing to discard the changes).

I am using Windows 10 and made it default in Windows settings. Not the main one. You need to go to the bottom of that screen and choose set defaults by app. If you dont choose that one then EM is not completely set as the default.

thank you for that idea, I was pressing around since yesterday and got really pissed off. Now it is shown that emclient is the default handler.
I like that program very much and had actually never a problem with it. It is now the 3rd or 4th PC on which I am using it.
Thanks again
Bernhard

The option indeed says that the program is not a default email program and clicking it and changing settings changes nothing.
I had this bug on Windows 10 and I also have it now on Windows 11.

Windows settings:

It is not the default application, because one option is set to another application.

Change the .vcf to eM Client as well.

I changed it, restarted the PC and it still says that it’s not a default email program.
And now when I click the button:

Nothing happens, as it couldn’t be clicked.

So… Looking at other posts on the forum I guess it’s a known (although harmless) bug.

I have the same problem

Did you set all the options in your Windows settings?

Thank you, Gary, for the helpful information. Once I set the options in Windows Settings, the eM Client Settings window reflected that all was now good. (Now I have to go through this on my other machines.)
