Drag and drop email to promotions category not working

Does anyone know how to refresh the drag/drop feature for categorizing email rules?

If the Category isn’t right and you have a Non Gmail account, i believe you go to “Menu / Rules” and there will be an existing custom category rule which you can remove and then re-drag or move that email back to the Inbox category you want. You can dblclick the rules to view them.

If its a Gmail account “thats all done at the Google mailbox end” where you just re-drag / move it back to the Category you want in eM Client, which will re-train Gmail for future emails from that sender. Sometimes you have to do that a few times with Gmail accounts as I’ve personally found with my own Inbox. This is not a fault of eM Client, but just i suspect eg: load issues at Google.

Thank you for the explanation. I have a mix of Gmail accounts and Network Solutions accounts. When I first began using EM Client I would drag the email and get a message with a checkbox that said stop reminding me and there would be an action/response that would let me know the action occurred. After I checked the box to stop reminding me that I was moving something and recategorizing it, then the action stopped altogether.

Also, I’ve noticed that I keep receiving errors on my Rules, in general. I check the box when the alerts list appears and go through the action of choosing the correct folder to redirect the email to and then I receive errors that the folder (which was not where I put it) does not exists. I’ve tried to delete the folders, re-create ones named similar, and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Yes you normally either “drag the messsage subject to the category you want”, which will bring up a prompt to confirm that for future emails from that sender,

Or “right click on the message subject” and then click category in the dropdown and then choose the category you want, which then will normally also prompt you to confirm for future emails from that sender.

Have a read of this blog which explains assigning messages to the different categories ,and category message rules, and "what to do if it’s not working for past message category assignments” etc.

Extract from above blog link that might help you.

“ For Non Gmail accounts, the drag-and-drop category change creates a new rule for all future messages received from or sent to that same email address. These messages will be assigned the target category.

You also have the option to change the category for all past messages associated with that email address. To do this, simply press and hold the Shift key while dragging and dropping the message.

Additionally, if you press and hold the “Alt” key (on Windows) or the “Control” key (on macOS) while dragging and dropping, only the category of the selected message will be changed, and no new rule will be created.

As you have already deleted and recreated the folders and that didn’t help, then “i would try deleting and recreating the rule” and if that still fails you might need to contact offical support.

If you have a current active paid Pro, Personal or Business version, you can go to the vip support page and login and lodge a support ticket for further assistance.
