downloading emails on all computers

G’day, i’ve recently installed this software on 3 of my windows 8 computers in my shop. On initial testing on 2 computers, it appeared it downloaded the emails to both computers (good) then if i delete it off one, it deleted it of the other (good), but when I installed it on a third pc today, its copied all the emails from outlook (good) but now it seems that once it downloads to this latest machine i’ve installed it on, it disappears of the other 2 before getting a chance to read them.

Is there something somewhere that i can’t find that the software on this latest machine is deleting it off the server once it reaches this computer? If so, how can I fix this.

The sole reason why I liked this program originally was any staff could access the emails from any computer depending on which they were using.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, are you using POP or IMAP for receiving messages? You can check this in Tools > Account > Your Account, and check if you have an IMAP tab under your account, check this on all your computers, especially the one you’re having issues with.

Thank you,
Paul.

Hi there Paul, thanks for the response. I’ll have to check the computers in my shop tomorrow, but this is a screenshot of the one at home. Is it suppose to look like this and if not, what is required to be ticked or un-ticked?

Hi, thank you for the screenshot, please check the settings on your other computers as well and get back to me.

Thank you,
Paul.

G’day, on the 3 computers in the shop, the front 2 pc’s have them as IMAP, but the back PC, 3 accounts are SMTP and one is IMAP.
I’m guessing I need to change these over to IMAP, but how do I do it without loosing all the existing emails?

Here is a screen shot for you of the shop computer.
One acc has both smtp & pop3
The other acc has smtp & imap

Those 2 accounts listed above have been from an import of Outlook.

All others that i’ve created appear to work correctly.

Hi, SMTP is a protocol for sending, so that’s no issue, but I see your first account is setup to POP3, which may be the cause of the issue - since that account is only downloading new emails and if you read the emails on another account they might not be downloaded on the POP3 account, is that the account you’re having issues with?

Thank you,
Paul.

Yes thats correct. I’ve got another ‘sales@’ account which was similar to that 1st account listed above. Today I deleted it and started a fresh and no issues since. So the big question is now how do i convert that pop account to an imap account?

You have to setup the whole account from scratch, did you use the automatic setup while setting up that account, if it was setup as POP automatically, you have to set it up manually by switching from the automatic setup tab to mail tab where you can select other and proceed with the configurations steps, but you have to find IMAP configuaration for your mail service…

Thank you,
Paul.

Hi Paul, all configs have been done automatically and have always used the imap option, its just this one pc where i’ve used the import tool and where all the issues are.
What is the best way to save all the emails in the accounts I need to delete and start from scratch with auto setup?

Not sure if you really need to save anything, if you’re using IMAP on your other computers, when you setup an IMAP account on this computer, you should be seeing the exact same content as on your other computers using IMAP.

But if you really want to make sure, you can go to File > Export and save all your emails into .eml files or download your emails into local folders. You can also setup the account without deleting the old one, and then you can compare if you’re missing something or not.

Hope this helps,
Paul.

Ok, no problems Paul, thankyou for all your assistance.

Just one last question, how do you make the menu bar text larger? I can’t seem to find a way to especially make the send/receive and delete buttons bigger.

That’s unfortunately not possible in eM Client, the icons and the text size is set and can’t be changed, we’ve received some requests for adjusting this so maybe it will be improved in future releases.

Thank you,
Paul.
