Same problem here. Client goes offline when it stucks on some messages in folder. When I unsubscribe problematic folder, synchro goes on with no problems at all. I think that it is problem with message’s PUID or something.
Client: Em Client 4.0
Server: Zimbra and same problem on GroupWise
I have the same problem usine EMC4 and Win7. Same thing on XP. All with Gmail. Am about to give up and change to a different client.
Hello,
send us your IMAP logs please. Go to menu Tools->Settings->Logging and check “IMAP” under the problematic account. Then restart eM Client, try to simulate the issue and send us (with reference to this topic) the logs using the same logging settings window. Thank you.
we also found this happens if you’re behind a NAT / router and it times out your connections.
the fix for this is to set eM Client to check for mail every say 1minute so its connection never gets timed out.
It will be good when eM Client can just recover from closed connections and re-connect etc instead of going into some sort of quasi-offline mode, and force you to either send/receive all or restart eM Client.
Do you people understand how infuriating it is to merely tell the user that they can’t read their email because the account is offline, while giving no way to make the account online? YOU COULDN’T INCLUDE A “GO ONLINE” MENU COMMAND??
I am also suffering from this same problem which I think is causing another problem of mine with the client freezing. I found that this was (in my case and so far) being caused by two messages in my inbox. I deleted them directly through gmail and so far so good. Hoping this can be resolved though. Using the free version at home but looking to use the professional version at work assuming it functions properly. I did collect logs and stack traces if anyone is interested. Will check back later for any replies or shoot me an email and I will forward them to you.
Regards
George, I tried to email you my IMAP logs twice and both times the message failed with the following error:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.7.1
Please advise.
Hello,
please create a SMTP logs - it would help us to resolve the problem with rejected message, because the problem is not on our side. Then send me all your logs from a browser:
- Log in to your Gmail account in a browser
- to “To” line enter [email protected]
- Attach all logs from the folder: C:\Users%Current User%\AppData\Roaming\eM Client\Logs
Thank you.
done. I only had 3 files that were small enough for gmail to send, and I had to spread them to 2 emails.
I have the same experience as Adrien with what seem to be timeouts caused by being behind a NAT/firewall, often with eM Client entering this ‘quasi-offline’ mode. Gmail and my own dedicated server IMAP connections are affected.
It would be great to have it auto-reconnect in the background, or manage dropped connections a bit better. This occurs on eM Client v5 (Dec-14 release) for me.
I just experienced this in version 5. I’m surprised this still hasn’t been fixed.
same problem how to fix this?
Two work-arounds that I have found are:
- Restart eM Client (while connected to the Internet).
- Click on the red triangle next to the account whose e-mail you’re trying to read.
is this going to be fixed … version 5 i just got …
this is not good …
It’s a pit. I thought that at last I had found a e-mail client with “my” layout: big letters (font), nice colors, simply and doing what I need. But a so ordinary and small bug lets us so upsad. It’s a pit…
We are aware of this problem and our developers are still trying to find a solution.
Same issue here. I’ve been evaluating em Client for a couple of weeks ago and there’s a lot to like but things like this have me very hesitant to buy it. This issue has been around for a long time and nothing seems to be happening to fix it. Win8, connected to gmail using IMAP. Suddenly tells me that messages will be downloaded next time I go online but there is no warning symbol or anything. Send and Receive All works if I click on another message, then back on this one. Don’t have any problems using Thunderbird with this or my other IMAP accounts.
Yes, for the same reasons pointed by James, I gave up. Unfortunatelly I went to PostBox.
Good bye and Good luck, Em Client team! You have a great software (could be!). Layout is great, font size, colors, setting options, everything is just very nice. But the bugs like this one… pissed off anyone.
there is a work-around that basically fixes this, and it’s to set the client to check mail every 1minute, to get around the timeouts.
Since I did this, I don’t see this error any more.
But ideally eMClient should just do what all the other clients do, and notice the difference between user-directed disconnect, and being timed out. Then it should just reconnect when it is asked to do something, without presenting bogus error conditions to users.
