I am wondering if eM Client has an email alert like thunderbird without the main program running?

What I think you are referring to is a feature called Close application to tray. The application is still running, but is not visible among the other running applications.
Thanks for the reply but no that is not what I meant. My Thinderbird app is not minimized or in the system tray - it is not running as such but stll alerts me on a new email arriving. As much as I like eM Client it is quite heavy on resources so I wondered if it had something similar.
That is not possible.
If you open the Task Manager, you will see that it is still running.
