disabled Microsoft 365 credentials

Hi,
I have been using emClient for years, this is a great product. Much to my annoyance, IT at my workplace out of some security paranoia have decided to block emClient and force the use of Outlook.

This is the message that I get when authenticating the account on https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/login:

Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in.

AADSTS7000112: Application ‘e9a7fea1-1cc0-4cd9-a31b-9137ca5deedd’(eM Client) is disabled.

Is there a way round this? Can emClient somehow pretend it is Outlook? This is really annoying.

Martin

Hi Martin,

That’s very annoying and I sympathize! I was in a similar situation but was fortunate that our IT team later approved usage of eM Client. Unfortunately, I’m not aware of any way that a eM Client can declare a different identity, like some web browsers can.

Is there a chance you could get your IT people to permit usage of eM Client? It may be they imposed a general rule as a new initiative, but might “open things up” for safe software cases, one-by-one? When I first encountered this, I noticed a blue verification badge near the eM Client logo when trying to sign in to the Microsoft account. Perhaps you could show this to the IT team to demonstrate this is a trusted source?

Hi,

thank you. I requested an approval, but this was denied. Pointing out that hosting all business data somewhere ‘in the MS cloud’ potentially subject to hostile US administration was not viewed as helpful
Indeed, this is a new initiative. Let’s see how we proceed from here.

There is no way how we can mimic Outlook for that purpose, sorry.
