After using the iOS version of em Client for a while, I think I prefer not having calendar, tasks etc in my email app. Despite having them all set in the desktop version, I never use them. For me, they just make the menus cluttered with things I don’t use, though I completely understand their usefulness in a business environment.
Is there any chance there could be an email only version?
I have tested pretty much every email app available for Mac and iOS, but em client is the only one that functions as a useful client with pgp.
I just wonder if there is a market for a cut-down version for those who don’t use exchange/gmail type services.
You can disable syncing of calendars and contacts with your server, as long as you aren’t using Exchange. Then just don’t open the calendar, tasks or contacts sections of eM Client. You can even remove the icons from the navigation panel in the bottom left of the screen.
To disable the syncing, go to Menu > Accounts and click on the General tab for the account. Scroll down to Services and untick any CalDAV, Google Calendar, Google Contacts or CardDAV entries. Click on Save & Close.
To remove the icons from the navigation panel, right-click on one of those icons and choose Customize Navigation Panel and remove the items from the right column.
Just be aware that if you receive an email with an invitation to an event and you click on Accept or Tentative, it will create the event in the Local Folder Calendar. But you don’t have to view the calendar, just stick in the email section of eM Client.
Yes, I have tried that but it is still quite a bulky app.
By the way, is there a way to use default browser with the iOS version? The in-built client allows me to, but only after it has opened the page itself.
