When replying to a message, reply goes to sent folder but when I delete the original message it also deletes the sent message from sent folders, anyway to correct and keep in sent?

sounds like you have Conversations view enabled and instead of deleting the single message you deleted the whole conversation.
I suggest you use the ‘Conversations in Message Detail only’ option in Menu>View>Conversations.
