Thanks for the reply - this is very good stuff to hear - and honestly, I think this will come down to how quickly problems are addressed more than which app has more features or how quickly the new-spiffy-glitzy updates are turned out. Stability and fixing existing problems means more to us than everything else.

Had the exact same problem.
I was getting the Database disk image malformed error while trying to move messages from inbox to a local folder. I narrowed the issue down to a single email message and decided to delete it in the source web email site. As soon as I did, eM Client crashed and I could not open it.
Using your directions and some playing around I was able to recover all my local folder data and re-establish eM Client as a working email client.
