Data Files access for more than one client

Hi there, I understand that it is not possible to share a regular eM Client database among more than one instances of eM Client. How about Data Files? I couldn’t find that answered in the forums yet, I hope I didn’t miss a post.

Thanks,
kind regards,
Benjamin.

Yes as long as the data file is “unmounted first” and then “remounted” with a V10 client or later, then you can read that on any other Pc or Mac installation.

If you both need to use the data file at the same time”, then unmount it and make a copy and then remount it and give that to the other party.

Lastly remember to backup your data files when they are unmounted incase of any issues later.

Quote below from eM Client data files blog

“Not only can Data Files be moved to a different location, but they can also be comfortably shared with others, so they can quickly mount the file into their eM Client app. That way, whole folder structures and emails they contain can be shared easily”.

“So, in case you need to hand over a whole project with all its related email communication to your colleague, you can do so by creating a data file and sharing it with them. The same can be done if a person is leaving the company and wants to share all of their emails with their replacement without much hassle”.
