Hi all.
I am new to eM client. I am using the free version registered after installation on PC.
I notice that if I want I could backup with the default location under my Documents>eM. The Documents folder is being backed up to OneDrive and this backup will use up more OneDrive space than available.
Can I change the location of the backup folder? Also can I change the name of the eventual path to anything I desire (it is giving me by default name 'eM client")?
Further, do I really need to do a backup since I have two mail cloud accounts (Hotmail and Gmail) and I don’t have anything lost since I could get it from the cloud. When changing PC I can always install eM client and do settings all over again with the same licence key after deactivating on the old PC. This way I don’t have to bother with backups. Any thoughts?
eM Client will be backing up to the OneDrive / Documents / eM Client folder due to Microsoft by default now on new Windows installations set Documents to One Drive unless you change it.
But yes you can set the automatic periodic backup in settings instead to your eg: Local User Profile Documents folder - “C:\users\yourusername\Documents\eM Client” , Or you can alternatively set it to any other local internal drive location.

The advantage of doing the eM Client backups is that it keeps all the account/s setup, tags, messages cache, & license etc, so its much faster to restore if you have any problems.

If you change to a second computer and restore the eM Client backup or you manually enter the same license from your first computer “where you only have one license”, eM Client will normally “automatically deactivate the first computer” license. Saves you manually deactivating the first pc.
