Hi, I would like to start em client on my 2nd laptop and stop using the first laptop. I moved the backup file into the second computer and i’m unable to restore. Could you please help me with step by step instructions and screen shots. Both the laptops run 6.0.24928.0 and same OS windows
If you created the backup (Zip) file and located where it is, you need to put that compressed file in the same subdirectory of your 2nd computer. On my laptop, this file is located in AppData/Roaming/eMClient/Backup. When you click on Restore, you must be sure that the program is pointed at that directory so that it can locate the backup file. That file will look something like backup_20160625123.zip (date followed by additional identifying numbers). After you place the Zipped file in the proper subdirectory, open eMClient. Click “File” in the menu bar and then click “Restore”. The program will look for the file and if there is more than one zipped file (you may have earlier backups), it will show you the most recent available. If you want an earlier backup, click on the pulldown menu to see a list of all the other backup files available. Click on the backup file you want to restore and let the program do the rest.

what Michael above mentions is valid, but the default folder for storing backups can also be in your Documents/eM Client folder, so check where it’s saved.
Also, don’t forget to deactivate your license on your old computer after you activate it again on the new one, as one license can be active on only one device.
