Someone brought this up 2 years ago, and I found that it is happening to me now. The issue was raised, but clearly nothing was done and perhaps no attention paid, so I am raising it again.
I tag mail with color categories in my “All” inbox. The next day the category tags are gone.
I’m not sure when this started happening. My current version number is: 6.0.23181.0
Hello David,
I just replied to you on the older thread, but I’m afraid this issue might be out of our hands, but I’ll explain it here again for future references.
Does this happen to all of your emails or just some accounts? Some servers don’t support color categories so eM Client holds this information locally, but when some attributes of the emails change on the server side, it writes over the setting in eM Client. Sadly, we can’t solve this if that is the issue.
Thanks. The strange part is that it seemed to happen randomly. I don’t pay attention to every mail every day, so I didn’t really notice it or the circumstances. Also, I have not examined whether it happens on other accounts, only my main one. That is a POP account, and it happens while I leave the mail on the server. Once I move it to my local computer the tag sticks. What you say may be the case then, that on the server side something about the data attributes is changed, and that is reflected in having the mail re-served to me without the tag. I understand if you have no control over this at present, but perhaps the tagging system could be altered in the future so that mail can be tagged permanently, even for the time it remains on the server.
I’m bumping this inquiry because the more I think about it, the more ridiculous it seems (without intending offense) that you would implement a tagging system that would vanish.
Categorizing mails is obviously important, and it’s something that I believe you should address. I don’t want to have to download all the mail in my in box to my local computer in order to track it until I can deal with it.
I’m pretty sure there is a way to tag mail locally so that the tag will persist, and I hope you will implement it.
I’m using eM Client v8 BETA and have come across this issue with the display of Tag color chips in the main email view, in that many are only showing intermittently. And the Tags affected change after a restart.
I’ve flagged this up to BETA Testing & can only hope this is fixed before release
