Categories are not appearing under Contacts on the left hand side of the screen

I am just atarting to allocate categories to my contacts but the categories are not appearing under Contacts on the left hand side of the screen. How can I overcome this problem

This depends on how you are viewing the contacts and if they are online, who the provider is.

For local folder contacts and for most online providers, the contacts will all be in one folder unless you have created separate sub-folders to store them. GMail will create separate folders for the categories.

You can also group your contacts by category. Using any view other than business cards, you can sort by category, and that will create separate sections in the contact frame for each category or group of categories.
