Can't receive mails

OK Gary, thanks for the info! I did try sending a test email to my aol mail account and it was received! However, I changed my SMTP settings to: HOST: smtp.aol.com, PORT: 465, & Security policy to Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy) and saved the settings. I still get the red error message re “mailbox unavailable”. Then I restarted my browser, as you suggested, opened eM Client, & my test message appeared! I wonder if that re-starting the broswer was the key along since I’ve used the above SMTP settings previously! Anyway, I’m getting emails now! Let you know if I have any further issues! Thanks again!

Gary, is there any other port I can use for imap besides 143 and 993?

About a month ago in outlook web I have some contacts from which I don’t receive emails. I switched to gmail…!

No, those are the only ports used.

Also experiencing send/recieve issues and tried the different settings but no luck.
Will try restarting pc/router and see if that solves it

Been following this thread for days. eM Client won’t connect to server. Using Hotmail. Same problem as last year. No changes anywhere, just stopped working.

Tried: Browser mail, Outlook, and even installed Mailbird. All work just fine.

Only eM Client fails to connect. Even tried uninstall and reinstall.

Solution lies with eM Client. Trying to shift problem to anywhere else is not the solution.

If you didn’t make any changes in eM Client, then it is either a connection or server issue.

What is the error you get?

That looks like something is interfering with the connection. As a test, can you completely disable any anti-virus, firewall, proxy or VPN, then try again. Sometimes even restarting your router may resolve this.

Did all of those things. Remember last year’s authorization problem. Seems the same. Can send email via SMTP. Just can’t connect to receive. All Ok for OUTLOOK and Mailbird.

I tried this with a number of test accounts, and it works OK, so not an issue with eM Client. You might want to contact your email provider and ask for assistance. It may be an issue with your account, especially if it was working and without changing anything in eM Client, now it is not.

Look to SISIFUSS’ message from July 17th. If email works with all other email clients but eMClient, perhaps it’s not an mail provider problem.

Did you test with a Microsoft account? Hotmail?

The log snippet you posted shows there is an issue establishing a TLS connection. If you disabled all the security apps, and it didn’t make any difference, there can be other causes.

If you haven’t changed anything and it was working, now it isn’t, it will probably be the server. You can go to Menu > Accounts and click on the IMAP tab. Change the port to 143 and the security policy to Use SSL/TLS if available, then click on Save & Close. That will use a different port and may also be a solution if some security app is blocking port 993. And it connects in a different way to the server, so it is worth a try.

Thanks for the advice. Em client stopped receiving email from two but not all of my Outlook accounts a few days ago even though all of them worked for years with the default settings. All four were set up the same way. Diagnostics showed that IMAP was not connecting to the server with the problem accounts but SMTP checked out just fine. I tried every solution that I could find on the internet with no success. However, your suggestion solved the problem. Just changing the port to 993 from 143 didn’t work without changing the security policy to legacy. I am a happy camper now.

Did you do anything else? I did exactly this when Gary recommended it and I keep getting the red triangle that it has no connection.

No, I did only what he recommended. I also did the same on a friend’s em client with a positive result. All three accounts were Microsoft accounts. One was a hotmail.com, and the other two were live.com accounts. All three stopped working about 3 days ago. On the IMAP page of accounts in em client I have the host as imap-mail.outlook.com, port 993, for security policy use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy), and for authentication use identity credentials.
