New user!
Imported from Thunderbird!
All working just fine with the exception of Contacts/Addressbook.
If I click on CONTACTS in the left pane it indicates that there is nothing to display…
If I start an email and enter a name, it DOES indicate matches… so the addressbook is hiding somewhere.
I have looked at the Local Folders list and CONTACTS/ADDRESSBOOK is nowhere to be found there.
What is the secret? :))
Thanks in advance
Al
Resolved ITSELF… have no earthly idea what happened… PURE MAGIC!
Hello Al,
I’m glad the issue is solved
Regards,
Olivia
Hi, I’m a new eM client user, love it so far, but the problem described above some 3 years ago by Al/sunriseAl is exactly what is happening to me… I’m a seasoned pc user btw.
the contact list is blank and displays “This folder contains no items and no operation can be performed”. Yet the addresses appear when I start typing addressee in a new message…
Could it be related to the synch somehow, which I would have thought was only to check for new mail??
help appreciated…
I should note the addresses were imported from outlook, and were displaying correctly yesterday…weird
I just installed eM and got an error message during import of contacts. Zero information on page. If I type a known name or address to a new mail, nothing shows except what I typed.
What were you importing from?
For my issue, (now resolved) I followed advice from a similar forum post, it turned out that after importing contacts, they were not in the “My Contacts” folder, I had to go through the menu to display local folders (which I had hidden) - the contacts then reappeared. Each contact now actually appears twice, but I can live with that for now…
For Jay Ogram: I was importing from Windows Live Mail.
For Andrew Millen: I do not see an option under Menu to display local folders.
menu\tools\settings\general and check “Show local folders”. I have no experience with WLM, so hopefully someone else can help.
Leon, if you google “windows live mail export contacts” you’ll find the following method to export to a csv file (or maybe other formats too). Not sure if you’ve already done this.
- Open Windows Live Mail.
- Click Contacts folder, and then click Export.
- Select Comma separated values (.CSV).
- In the CSV Export window click Browse and select the Desktop folder.
- Type WLMContacts in the file name and then click the Save button.
Then you can import them in eM client:
menu / file / import /
then choose the .csv format under files (if you exported them to .csv format)
