Can't add attachments to mail - looks for files in 'phone, not laptop

I work on a laptop. During lockdown I took a video on a phone and connected the phone to my laptop and sent a copy of the video to a friend. Now when I try to add an attachment (file or photo) to an email the only search option on eM Client is directed towards the phone folder, not the storage folders on my laptop. I cannot access any folders on my laptop for attachments.

UPDATE - I have received a certificate (pdf) attached to an e-mail which I’d like to save. When I click to save I am presented with a partial list of folders - two levels down from the top level C:. If I click on one of the folders that are displayed I cannot go back up again. I don’t know if this problem is related to the previous issue.
