"Cannot open folder... Folder does not exist or server encountered an error"


I am receiving the below error whenever I try to click on my inbox or the various subfolders of the inbox. I have two AOL accounts in EMClient, and the other is functioning perfectly fine.

Troubleshooting steps taken so far:

  • Restarting client
  • Restarting computer
  • Removing and readding email account via EMClient
  • Logging into the account on AOL to confirm that the email account is still functional

What else can I try to resolve the issue?

Yes. Contact AOL Support as there may be some issue with the account.

Why would it be on AOL’s end? I can access my email on AOL’s website just fine. It’s accessing the email from eM Client that has the issue.

There is a difference between accessing the account through a web interface and accessing the account through IMAP. 

The error you posted indicates that the problem may be at the server. You can choose not to contact AOL and continue to get the error, or you can contact them and see if there is something they can do.
