I am permanently getting an eMClient error message saying that the upload of a (calendar) element failed
… which is no surprise as the correspnding calendar is an autogenerated (ownCloud birthdays of contacts calendar), which does not accept manual or sync updates by clients.
What can I do?
Why does eMClient change the calendar entries at all and tries to upload/update from client->server?
Those messages take my nerves, and actually I never had them with any other Email tool using the same accounts so far.
Certainly, there should be a sync, but one-directional server->client only.
With a read-only calendar it can happen if you have received a reminder for an event, and you have tried to dismiss it. The data can’t be written back to the calendar, so you get an error.
To get rid of the pending writes, right-click on the calendar folder and choose Properties > Repair > Repair.
So you don’t have this issue again, you will also need to disable reminders for that calendar by right-click on its folder and choosing Properties. Untick the option to Show reminders.
We are looking at different ways to support read-only calendars in future versions of eM Client.
