Body Div gets removed

When I manually insert the with background color.
eM Client removes it from the template after saving.

Why is that?
I want to manually be in control what eM client does with the body.

I know about the background setting :confused:

Hey @evert7877

You will need to give exact detail of how and what you want to do.
Start at: Menu ->Settings ->Now give details of your action

¡Buena suerte!

When I manually code Body styling in there like:
<body style="background-color:#000000;" bgcolor="#000000">
I save the template… check the code again and the body div is removed.

This behavior is very annoying if you want to drop the code in E-mail styling preview software.

What you say does not tell me anything.
¿Where is in there?
I ask you to give exactly what you do starting at:
Menu ->Settings → ¿Where do yo go from here?
I can not help you if you do not give full detail, I can not guess.

¡Buena suerte!

Menu → Settings → E-mail → Template and signatures → E-mail templates → [select one template] → Edit → (right click in template) edit source.

Here I see that the content of the body div is moved outside the body and the body div removed.
The Background setting in the eM client template editor is overwriting my own code.

Hey @evert7877

OK, ¿Is the Template you are trying to edit one you have created or imported?
I do not have any default Templates on my system in either eMC v8 or v9
When I open Mail Templates ->Templates ->I have none listed
I have the option for New or Import - I do not have any to import or select
If I had a Template to select, when selected it would appear in the preview
I could then select Edit to open the Editor I would not need to right click
in the source as you say.
If I select New a new Editor window opens for me to create a Template

It is the same process for Signatures that I do use with no problem
here is an example of what I use in email - it is fully formatted when
it is used in email to a particular font/size/color

Because there is already an option for adding a background color or image.

All I want is eM Client to do nothing with the <body> </body> but I guess its programmed in such a manner that an designer like me have problems with eM client because it finds it necessary to touch my custom code.

I created a new template with a black background, first with the background option which is neat. Then I wanted to edit the code afterwards to add an <Body> div manually because I need that for testing my E-mail styling in other inboxes because I want it to look good on all platforms.

Everytime I save the template with the manual Body div in place… it removes it because in the eM clients mind it finds the body div not necessary because it’s got the background option… and when if I don’t want that?

Bad luck because eM Client always removes the <Body> DIV even if you have all kinds of more styling in there. This almost makes me not want to use eM Client entirely because its an deadly flaw for me as an Marketing and Communication designer.

Yes, because there is already a place for you to specify the background.

If you specify it in two places, the option I indicated in the screenshot will replace what you have used in your code.

Can there please be an option that eM Client doesn’t mess with custom code.
Because there are numerous situations where there are more then an simple background styling in the body…

eMClient does not store the BODY tag itself, for a good reason. You may hovever insert an extra DIV and apply the styles there, so it looks like the styles are applied for body.
You can workaround it by something inserting html code like this:

<style>
body {margin: 0px !important;
    min-height: 100vh;
    height: 1px;
}
</style>
<div style="background-color:red; min-height: 100%; padding: 8px">test</div>
