Blocked/Junk Email

I have flagged my blocked and junk emails, but they continuously go into my unread inbox. I have gone into my rules and checked and unchecked “Spam Filter” to see if it helps and it doesn’t. I’ve never had this issue until the last update I believe. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The Unread folder within Favourites will normally always show anything that is unread from any account folder as its a Global Unread folder.

So if you are seeing spam / junkmail messages in your Unread folder, go to “Menu / Settings / Mail / Read” (Pc) or “eM Client / Preferences / Mail / Read” (Mac), and check the box “Mark Messages as read after move to Spam” and Save Settings. Then close and reopen eM Client.

I suspect the Unread spam messages you are seeing in the Global Unread folder, are Spam / Junk emails, that have already been moved from the Inbox to the Spam / Junkmail folder by a rule, and is still showing the default Unread status. So doing the above should fix that if that is the case.

eM Client V9.2.2144 for Mac example below.

Except for Trash and Junk. Those folders are not included in the Unread Favorites folder.

Ok well then must be another reason as to why @CnoteLA is having that problem if the Unread doesn’t show / display the Spam / Junk mail folder messages.

It may be the address you blacklisted is not the same address they use for subsequent emails. The best option is to open webmail, select the message in your Inbox there, and mark it as spam. Your server will learn from this and similar messages will be moved automatically to spam/Junk in future.

The Spam filter Rules only applies to POP3 accounts, because the spam folder is not synced from the server. In that case even though the server marks the messages as spam, they are still downloaded so this Rule moves them to Junk in eM Client.

I have 1 Gmail, 2 Microsoft, and 1 Apple account(s)

If I do the “Mark messages as read after move to Trash/Spam” that isn’t going to affect my non-spam/junk email right?

It means the messages you move to Junk or Trash will be marked as read.

Thank you! I’ll keep an eye on it.
