I have just installed eM client and am trying to set it up to connect with Gmail. The process is fairly straightforward and works well until I get to the password entry screen, which shows up blank (see screen shot).
I am using a Windows 7 x64, and eM client version 7, on a regular notebook (Lenovo). Playing around with the default screen resolution has not helped. Neither has uninstalling and re-installing emclient.

what is the current version of eM Client you are using? Please copy the full number from Menu>Help>About section.
Do you use any security software that could be blocking eM Client for having web access? Proxy? Try adding eM Client to exceptions in these and see if it helps.
