Hello again.
You say you don’t get our crash dialog and it only silently exits the application, right? So there is no such dialog.
All our crashes should normally show this dialog. If not it might be a bit out of our control. In that case we would need crash report from Event viewer.
You can do that so this way:
Steps to Export Event Viewer Logs
-
Open Event Viewer: Press the Windows key, type Event Viewer (or eventvwr.msc), and press Enterz
-
Expand Windows Logs: In the left-hand pane, click the arrow next to Windows Logs
-
Select a Log: Click application
-
Save the Report
Click Action in the top menu bar, then click Save All Events As…
We analyzed the dump file and the result is here:
The issue is caused by the FileCloud Drive / FileCloud Sync shell extensions (C:\Program Files\FileCloud Drive\CloudDriveShellExtension40.dll, LogicNP.EZShellExtensions.dll, C:\Program Files\FileCloud Sync\CloudSyncExtension40.dll). They are written in .NET Framework 4.
When an Open/Save file dialog is opened, Windows invokes the icon overlay handler of this extension in the background. This loads the .NET Framework 4.8 runtime (clr.dll) into the eM Client process. The extension then throws and catches an exception internally. When transferring control to the catch handler, the old runtime manipulates the thread context in a way that CET (shadow stack) does not allow.
This explains why Attach, Save As, and printing to PDF all crash (they all open a file dialog), while drag & drop works, and why version 10 (.NET 8, works as well).
Solution: Update or uninstall FileCloud Drive/Sync, or disable its overlay handlers using ShellExView.

I downloaded Shellexview, looked for the cloudsync overlays and disabled all.
It worked. Now i am able to print.
But question … Why on version 10 there is no issue w. the cloudsync overlays?
