backup task edit failed message

I attempted to do enable a backup by hitting apply in the backup setup window but I got a message "eM Client backup task edit failed due to the following reason: The user name or password is incorrect. Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007052E). What is that about? I have the Target Directory set to a folder in my Documents directory so there should be no user permissions/passwords. Makes no sense. What’s a good way to do a backup?

I would try uninstalling eM Client, then re-download and install the latest version again from the Release History.

The eM Client backup feature is the best way when you get it working. Any external backup will require eM Client to be closed, and that is not always convenient. You can configure eM Client’s Backup manually in Windows Task Scheduler so you can specify the frequency more accurately, especially  the time, but that does require an initial setup in eM Client.

BTW, I removed 1903 from my laptop as the latest Windows update caused more issues than it is worth. Will wait till the next Patch Tuesday to see if there are fixes for my problems before I try the upgrade again.

Re-installing sounds simple, but it will loose all my settings, my accounts and my custom theme. It isn’t worth it. The program should be fixed. I haven’t done anything bizarre.

Yes, re-installing is very simple, and you won’t lose anything.

During the uninstall you will be asked if you want to delete your database directory. Just select No , and everything will be there as before once you have re-installed eM Client.

It is just a suggestion that might fix something that has not been experienced by any other users. If you don’t want a solution, better you don’t ask for one on this forum.
