How is it possble that you, guys, can’t make your product simply compatible with Avast after so mant years !? pfiouuuuu
There is no compatibility issue.
You simply need to configure your security application to allow eM Client to connect to the Internet.
@Jean-Christophe_Vroy You might just need to “Disable the Incoming Mail scanning” in Avast as in this eM Client thread below which worked for another eM Client V8 user.

Hi,
Avast work-around
Protection > Core Shield > Settings (gear on the right) > look for Mail Shield > disable Scan inbound emails
eM Client 8 should work
Hope these helps.
Thks !
Indeed a work-around, but having to disable the mail agent in antivirus is somewhat absurd !
well if “absurd” is your only option to “live” with eM Client… it narrows your choices.

Avast is still resident in memory even though you are disabling the incoming email scanning, so if you eg: open an email attachment with a virus (after its arrived in the inbox), Avast would still intercept it as it’s resident in the background, similar to the built-in Win 10 security / defender.
Aha, good news. Thks for that. I’ll try this indeed…
