Auto Backup fails!

I keep getting this message every morning when (I assume) em Client is trying to back up. Backup fails each time. I think this started after a recent update but I can’t be sure.I tried doing a repair installation but it made no difference. I can do a manual backup with no problems.
Any ideas how to fix this please?

I also get another window saying 'The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect. I don’t believe I have changed anything recently. This started about 3 weeks ago.

Hi, do you use multiple Windows accounts with locked personal folders and into which one you are trying to backup?


Hi Jan, thanks for your reply.
I use two Fastmail accounts, one is my main mail account and the other is a rarely use Fastmail account that is used for admin messages and confirmation of my account status byFastmail. The database is located in C:\Users\Mike G\AppData\Roaming\eM Client\ and the backup destination is the F: partition on my hard drive (F:\eM Client Backup). I’m sorry, but I don’t know what you mean by ‘locked personal folders’!

The auto backup worked fine for a long time but I noticed that along with the error message posted above, that the daily backup always showed no data as the event was failing. The folder in F: would be uploaded to a cloud account but of course no data was being uploaded!

Hi. I’m just wondering how long I need to wait for a response from eM Client that will enable the software to run properly as it is now 36 days since I posted the original question?

Can anyone please assist me with this as at this rate I will probably ditch the software with what appears to be nil support!

Could you please go to “Scheduled Tasks” find eM Client in “Task Scheduler Library”, click on it and export the .xml file provided by the application?
