an issue with managin an extensive e-mails database in eM Client

Hi there,

I’m using eM Client for a couple of years now. My current version is 9.2.

I struggle with managing my achieve of e-mails from previous years. The way I’ve done it so far is to create under “Local Folders” a separate folder for each year (i.e. 2024 or 2023 and so on). In these folders I store all my e-mails, additionally sorted in specific categories, threads, etc.

The above solution, however, is getting quite complex and heavy after a couple of years, as my achieve of e-mails has grown a lot - I have six big folders for each year from 2019 to 2024.

My question: is there a way in eM Client (maybe in the most recent version) to export e-mails into a specific file / separate database? What I’m thinking of is to export all e-mails i.e. from 2022 and 2023 into a specific file/database to which I could easily connect when necessary (in order to search for some e-mail) and then disconnect it.

This is exactly how .pst files work in MS Outlook, where you can flexibly choose which .pst file (with a folder structure inside of it) open in your Outlook, depending on your needs.

Thanks,
Robert

Yes if you upgrade to eM Client V10 it now has built-in option to create a (.emdf) data file externally on your hard-disk in whatever location you want such as Documents / eM Client, which then once created, allows you to eg: drag / move any account emails into a folder or folders on that external data file to then “either leave permanently mounted” or “unmounted if you don’t need it open all the time” which sounds like what you want.

The data file shows “under your email accounts or above Local Folders” when it’s mounted. You access it via “Menu / Data files” in V10.

Love it. Thanks a lot. Looks like exactly what I was looking for. Just need to upgrade to v10.
