what email account service provider do you use and what version of eM client? And do you use IMAP or POP3?

Hello John,
The email account services are Gmail & iCloud, they are both IMAP. The version of eM client is 5.0.16881.0

So I will need SMTP log, go to tools - settings - advanced, check SMTP under your account, apply and restart eM Client.
Then try to send email and after error will occur send logs… from same advanced window to [email protected] together with this topic’s url in subject.

then you can turn logging off.
