I was prompted for the upgrade, my account was gone and I had to recreate it
but ALL my email rules are missing.
How do I get them back?
Upgrade was to 7.0.27943.0
All of my local folders are missing too. I reran the import of the PST but it only imported up to the point in 2014 when I installed eM client.
How do I get everything back that was in my eM client before this upgrade?
Why on earth would you distribute such a destructive automatic upgrade without any warning or recover instructions?
I found a way to get things back, since it’s not in the forum or their documentation search results,
here it is what I did for the next poor schmo who gets wammied by v.7 the upgrade.
1 - DON’T CLICK YES when the automatic upgrade first pops up
2 - back up your emClient user appData folder first.
3 - if using exchange, be sure your inbox and folders are fully sync’d
4 - run the upgrade, before recreating your exchange account try File -> Import
from eM Client v.6 (if it does not restore your account, create it manually then click Fix on the account connection test screen and once it is working run the v.6 import again)
key words for search:
“eM Client” “7 upgrade” “rules missing” “rules gone” “local folders missing”
Hello Jorge,
We’re sorry that the upgrade didn’t go smoothly for you. After installing eM Client 7 you should be asked whether you want to import your data from eM Client 6 in the automatic import wizard. If you skip this option, you can import your version 6 data anytime using the Menu -> File ->Import -> Import from eM Client 6 option.
Regards,
Maurice
