There is a Sleekplan suggestion to have “Solid Folder colours” that you can vote for.

The background slightly grey colour you could either “try one of the other built-in Themes”’ via “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / Appearance / Themes”,
Or you could “save your current Theme” and then “modify your Theme” in the built in Theme Editor.
Or you could design your own Custom Theme.

There is also “User Themes you can try” which could also might make the background stand out.

Editor is a bit confusing and partly not yet translated into German.
Specifically, the points in which you can set the background colour of the respective fields and the fill colour of the directory icons!
