contacts can only be accessed by CtrlB there is no option menu item on the Left hand side, like you have email, calendar and tasks

Could you specify what version of eM Client are you using? If you are using the latest version (7.x) it is possible that you changed the default view. You can simply fix it by right-click on the MAIL/CALENDAR/TASK items and select contacts. Please let me know whether this information was helpful.
