eM Client successfully downloaded and installed but every time I launch it a screen display appears with the following text:
“The application cannot access the default database location ‘C:Program Files (x86)\eM Client’ because of folder permissions. Please contact your computer administrator for help.”
To the best of my knowledge I am my computer administrator. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, always with the same result. Having inspected the location quoted it appears to be fully populated and crucially includes file “MailClient.exe” which, when double-clicked, has the same result as described above. I am running Windows 11 on a perfectly healthy PC. Please can anyone out there help?
“The application cannot access the default database location ‘C:Program Files (x86)\eM Client’ because of folder permissions.
Go to your C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client folder.
Then “Right click on the folder” and click “Properties” at the bottom. Then click the “Security tab” at the top and make sure your username is in the administrators group as in the below example with Full control and all options enabled.
If its not, then click Edit to change permissions and give yourself full control over that folder.
Note:- a good test if you have full permissions is to "try creating a folder in that same folder.
Thanks cyberzork; I had tried that approach but without the confidence & determination inspired by your very clear & expert advice. Amazingly in the process I received activation keys previously issued as far back as Feb 2016 when I first used the app. I was however careful to quote the current key and, as far as I can tell, now fully up & running. I will only be certain once I bite the bullet, close down this session then try a relaunch, fingers crossed. But if this fails I know that there is help out there from the likes of you. Thanks again!
