when deleting, two messages are deleted

Sometimes, when deleting a message from the inbox, the next message is deleted also. Is there an explanation for this? Using Sky Yahoo POP email. 

Hi Andy, can you please specify how exactly are you deleting your messages, are you using the delete button on your keyboard or in the application, or possibly a shortcut (ctrl+D) to delete your items?

What version of eM Client are you currently using on your computer, can you please check the exact release number in Help > About?

I see the same problem with version 7.1.30794.0 using either the DEL key on the keyboard or the Delete button on the application.

This could be because of Conversations. If you delete the message in the message list, you are actually deleting the conversation. Try turning conversations off (Menu > View > Conversations > Disable Conversations) and see if the problem persists.

This would not have been the problem in Andy’s post above, because conversations were not implemented before last year.

I disabled Conversation but I still get the following message deleted when I delete a message.  The bad news is it doesn’t happen every time but most of the time.  If I have over 1000 unread messages it happens every time.

One thing you could try, if you are using IMAP, is to repair the folder. Right-click on the folder and choose Properties > Repair. This will delete the local cache and again download all the messages.

I have tried to follow the suggestion, but I don’t know what folder you are referring to.
Can you make it a little clearer?

I now understand you are referring to the email folder such as “inbox”. I got into properties, but there was no “repair” option.  How can I get this problem fixed?

Douglas, the repair option applies only to IMAP folders. If you are using POP3 you will not have that. That has to do with what repair actually does; it deletes the local cache of emails and downloads them again from the server.

Thanks for explaining that for me.  However, the issue still persists.  Does anyone have a fix for this?

I am also experiencing this issue! When I delete a message (using the delete button at the top of the window) the next email is often also deleted. Any fixes?

I think it’s time to get this fixed. It’s been 3 years!! I’m running 7.1.31849.0. About 4 out of 10 messages I delete, with the in app delete button, results in the next message getting deleted at the same time. Not something you even notice, unless you are looking at the next message as you delete.

I am using version  7.1.33101.0  and I have the same problem with the neighboring message being deleted from time to time.  Do any em client engineers look at these threads?

Hi, I think it might have been my mouse. Try changing, and see if it helps.

I changed the batteries in my wireless mouse, and it seems to have fixed it! Thanks so very much.

Oh good!! I’m happy it worked, and happy you confirmed the solution. It seemed like a weird reaction to low batteries.

Rats! The problem reappeared today. Any other ideas?

Don’t give up on the idea of it being a mouse issue. It could be the mouse and not just low batteries. Changed mine to a newer, but same model mouse, Logitec wireless. I have not had the issue since I changed. My mouse had a lot of miles.

Okay, I’ll try that. Do they all connect automatically, or do you need a new driver?

If it’s a wireless, they seem to have their own specific dongle that plugs into the usb, but other than that, you shouldn’t need a driver. Mine didn’t work, till I changed the dongle, too. I’d borrow any mouse, from a friend, and try it out first, before buying another. Or even an old corded mouse.
