Not syncing messages from Gmail account

I’ve read all of the above text. I’m getting my contacts, tasks and calendar ok but not my messages. I’ve tinkled with the server settings for over a day and read blogs but still can’t get or send messages. I have only one gmail account. My settings are imap 993 and smtp 465 as mentioned above. Also, the sync function executes ok (spinning wheel) and sync timestamp gets updated and no error messages. Windows Mail is getting and sending ok with the same gmail account. I’m using free version eM Client to trial it before purchase. The log says it’s synchronising ok with all folders and subfolders. I’ve checked my Google account under ‘Apps with access to your account’, eM Client is in the list and has access to ‘Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Hangouts, Basic account info, Additional access (tasks)’. Is eM Client good to go or are there hitches that aren’t being disclosed? I’m running on Windows 10.

Temporarily disable your anti-virus and firewall and try again. This is a common cause of some protocols working and others not.

eM Client is finely tuned for GMail, and setting up the account using Automatic Setup should work first time every time.

Gary…I see that you seem to respond to a number of the threads where people are having issues with their GMail syncing with eM Client.  I’m hoping you can help as I am having the same problem as the OP.

I have looked through countless threads on this forum to find a solution with no success.  I have done the following:

 - Bought a new computer and installed eM Client
 - Purchased the paid PRO upgrade
 - Went through the proper install and setup instructions
 - Disabled device access in my Google Account security settings and setup again
 - Disabled all IMAP labels except for Inbox in my GMail account
 - Ensured that IMAP is enabled for my GMail account
 - Disabled all firewalls and virus protection programs
 - Repaired the local cache
 - Even tried setting up GMail using manual IMAP settings (which involves allowing less secure apps in the Google security console)

I’m pretty sure I’ve done everything you can possibly do.

What’s strange is that I have 10 other gmail accounts that work fine.  The account I’m having problems with is my main account and it was the first account I setup.  Upon initial setup it worked.  Then I realized I needed to change something with eM Client so I removed the account and when I added it back later it stopped working.

To confirm that it wasn’t a problem with my GMail account, I installed Thunderbird on another machine to try that out and it works fine.

Do you think it’s possible that maybe Google is blocking eM Client for specific accounts if there is some sort of strange activity?

Looking for any suggestions you can come up with.  Let me know if I can provide additional details to help.

Thanks
Kurt

" - Disabled all IMAP labels except for Inbox in my GMail account"

Make sure the “All Mail” folder is selected to show in IMAP.  eM Client needs access to this folder.

Hi Kurt.

I think if Jay Ogram could comment, you might stand a better chance of sorting out your problem. He knows much more about GMail than I do.

One thing I did notice though, is that you disabled all IMAP labels except Inbox. Without the All Mail folder enabled, you will not receive any emails in eM Client. Also, you probably want Sent, Junk and Trash enabled.

Give that a go and see what happens.

Ah, and Jay commented while I was typing.

Good point on the junk and trash, since they are actual gmail folders and I also think they are needed.

Jay & Gary,

You guys are Geniuses!

That solved the issue.

That must have come unchecked at some point early on and caused the problem (probably me trying to keep all 50k messages from downloading).  I only disabled the rest of the labels because someone else suggested that and it worked for them.  Glad I mentioned it otherwise I would never have known that you have to keep All Mail CHECKED!

I hope this solution helps anyone else who has a similar problem…including the OP - Shannon.

And for other people…this is why it’s important that you document everything you do!  So you can get great help and assistance.

Thanks guys!!!

Because it’s been a while Kurt I gave up and uninstalled it. Also, I’m pretty sure I had ‘All mail’ checked originally. So, can we assume it’s ‘all or nothing’. I’ll reinstall and try again. It’s a good product and would like to see it progress.

Hey all, we got the same problem and it seems to be solved.

We re-installed the gmailaccount in EmClient but kept getting the problem of account
We enabled all mail folders but still the problem was showing up.
We disabled the Kapersky Internet Security and the problem was not occuring anymore.
We enabled the Kapersky Internet Security and the problem was not occuring anymore (even after restart of the PC).
We day 0, so I’ll hope it will stay.
