Missing emails on my 1st device after licensing eM Client on my 2nd device

Hello,

After I installed (and licensed) eM client on my laptop, I have found out all my emails that were older than 1 week have disappeared from my desktop computer (where I’ve been using it for more than 1 year with no problems whatsoever).
Is there a conflict? Can I have my email synced on both computers?
I’m working remotely a lot so this is a big problem for me.

Thanks a lot for your answer.
Jan

This sounds like eM Client is setup as POP3 on the laptop, but IMAP on the desktop. For them to share the same messages and folders, they both need to be setup as IMAP.

On the laptop, go to Menu > Tools > Accounts, and see if you have a POP3 or IMAP tab in the account settings.

Thank you, Gary. Looks like this was the problem, I have set up the account on both devices as IMAP but it seems I have lost all my older emails. Can I somehow retrieve them?

Thank you,
Jan

Oh no, you deleted the POP3 account! There should have been a warning that deleting it will also delete all the messages. Unless you have an eM Client backup on the laptop, there is no coming back from that. ;-(

No, there was no warning. So you’re saying there’s no way I can recover 2+ years of my business emails and contacts?

What version of eM Client are you using?

I can’t remember as far back as version 6, but in version 7 you should have seen the following:

Unless you have a backup that was made after the POP3 account finished downloading the messages, then there is probably nothing you can do to recover them. Maybe your email provider can restore your messages, but most can’t.

Your contacts should still be there, as they are not part of the POP3 account.
